Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Australian Citizenship Practice (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a free practice test website operated by A NICE GUY in Australia. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles and, for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the GDPR and equivalent laws.
If you have any questions, contact us at support.niceguy@gmail.com.
1. Summary
- You can use every practice test without an account. Your results are then stored only in your own browser.
- If you create an account, we store your email address and your test results so you can keep them and use them on other devices.
- The site is funded by advertising from Google AdSense, which uses cookies. You can control personalised ads (see section 6).
- We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your test results for advertising.
- You can delete your account and all saved results at any time from the “My account” menu.
2. Information we collect
If you use the site without an account
Your test history (attempts, best scores and pass status) and any unfinished test are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. This information is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
If you create an account
- Account details: your email address and a unique user ID. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture with our sign-in provider; we do not display or use these.
- Password: if you sign up with email, your password is handled by our sign-in provider (Google Firebase Authentication) and stored in hashed form. We never see it.
- Your progress: for each practice test, the number of attempts, your best score, whether you have passed, and your most recent score and when you took it. When you create an account or sign in, progress already saved in your browser is added to your account.
- Account records: when your account and progress were created and last updated.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting and security: our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) and sign-in provider process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
- Advertising: Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser identifiers, and the pages you visit, using cookies and similar technologies. See section 6.
We do not ask for, and you should not give us, sensitive information such as your visa status, immigration details or identity documents.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the practice tests and show your results and progress.
- To create and secure your account, save your progress and sync it across your devices.
- To reply to you when you contact us.
- To display advertising that pays for the site.
- To keep the site secure, prevent misuse and comply with the law.
For visitors covered by the GDPR, our legal bases are: performing our agreement with you (providing your account and saved progress), our legitimate interests (running and securing the site), and your consent (personalised advertising and related cookies, where consent is required).
4. Who we share information with
- Google (Firebase), which provides our hosting, sign-in and database services and processes information on our behalf.
- Google AdSense and its advertising partners, which serve and measure ads (see section 6).
- Authorities or others, where the law requires it or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
5. Storage and overseas disclosure
Your account information and progress are stored by Google Cloud / Firebase. Google may store and process information in Australia, the United States and other countries where it or its sub-processors operate. By using an account you acknowledge that your information may be held outside Australia. We rely on Google’s contractual and security commitments to protect it.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads and related cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time using the “Privacy & cookie settings” link at the bottom of the home page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; ads will still appear but may be less relevant.
Ads are never shown while you are taking a test.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your account and saved progress for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and saved results are deleted from our live systems straight away; any copies in our providers’ backups are removed in line with their retention schedules. Information stored in your browser stays there until you clear it.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete: open “My account” and choose “Delete my account and data”.
- Access or correct: your saved results are shown on the home page. To request a copy of the information we hold, or to correct it, email us.
- Advertising: see section 6.
If you are covered by the GDPR you also have the right to object to or restrict our processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
9. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Database rules ensure that your saved progress can be read and changed only when you are signed in to your own account. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Children
This site is intended for adults preparing for the Australian citizenship test. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will provide a notice on the site.
